Based on the Mark VI, the Selmer Paris Reference 54 has a sound texture, depth and breadth not found in any other current instrument. The Reference Alto does even better than the Mark VI in terms of power - it has an enlarged bell diameter. The carefully researched neck length ensures great pitch reliability. The ergonomic mechanics come directly from the Mark V1, conceived by Marcel Mule. Modern production techniques enable improved feel and reliability. The Selmer Paris Reference 54 has a warm, "old gold" style finish, which gives depth to the lacquer. The engraving is taken from old plans found in the Selmer factory: a beautiful, engraved flower to enhance the look of the instrument. The Reference 54 comes with an impressive, solid, carbon fibre case which has an interior pull-out section beneath which the mouthpiece can be stored without damaging the instrument. Additional Selmer accessories included are: Selmer lacquer cloth, strap, pull-through, cork grease and reeds. The set also includes a Selmer Super Session Alto E mouthpiece, ligature and cap.
