Vandoren Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece Comparison Chart
VANDOREN Traditional and profile 88 - The only difference between the Traditional and profile 88 Vandoren mouthpieces is the exterior angle of the beak. The profile 88 has a longer "beak" (see picture), and so a more acute angle at the tip - the facing and tip opening are the same, so the chief reason for the difference is one of playing position: the player can choose the mouthpiece according to best playing position, sound projection, comfort, and articulation.

The Lyre mouthpieces have the beak angle of the traditional model, but the tip opening is always wider, for instance the B45 traditional model has a tip opening of 119.5 1/100mm; the B45 lyre 127 1/100mm. In some instances this may also mean a longer facing - usually meant for more experienced players as they require more control.
