This catalogue is a completely faithful reproduction of the Buescher Band Co. original. The colourful A4 catalogue briefly describes the history of the saxophone from 1846, introducing the Belgian inventor, Antoine (later Adolphe) Joseph Sax, and the man attributed with perfecting his machine: Ferdinand A. Buescher.

The catalogue details the history of Buescher and displays the True Tone saxophone in all its sizes and guises.

The first three pages - the '5 Buescher Purchase Plans' - is a protracted instrument order form containing questions of such a financially exacting and intimate nature, it begs the question: what indemnity was required for a mortgage..?

From the glorious 1920s black and white prints, some re-coloured; to the hand-drawn diagrams and old-fashioned serif font, this catalogue is a nostalgia fest for any aficionado, it fairly drips with a bygone era: the golden-age of the saxophone.

Pete Thomas has been on a search for the ideal saxophone sound, which usually requires the ideal saxophone player, but failing that, it doesn't hurt to have the ideal saxophone mouthpiece. The PPT mouthpieces are his design "turned into something rather special" by Edward Pillinger and represent the culmination of his search.
