During all these years, plenty of famous names in the history of jazz have chosen to play Borgani, starting from Gerry Mulligan and lots of prominent artists, Italian and International: Joe Lovano, Bob Berg, Tim Price, Paul Jeffrey, Emanuele Cisi, Pietro Tonolo just to mention some...and some more new rising stars.

One special project has been the creation of the series "Borgani Lovano", thanks to the lucky chance meeting of Orfeo Borgani and Joe Lovano.

History...

1872. In a small medieval village in Central Italy, Macerata, AUGUSTO BORGANI, driven by his passion for music and not content with just playing the trumpet in the town band, decided to undertake the production of musical instruments and set up a small workshop. His love for handicrafts, together with the attitude of a modern and farsighted entrepreneur, inspired Augusto.

He also sent his son Arturo to USA to work at the Conn factory in Indiana and learn more advanced means of production and techniques of manufacture. This valuable experience overseas was transferred to the workshop enabling the highest production standards.

1920. On Augusto's death, the other son ORFEO, trained and graduated in Clarinet at the Conservatoire of Bologna. He decided to interrupt his artistic career and follow in his father's footsteps. A gifted technician, he devoted himself to technological studies of woodwind manufacture.

He took out several international patents on inventions, still in use today (for example, a clarinet made to play both in Bb and in A, through a simple extension of the central body).

1950. After Orfeo's death, third-born GIUSEPPE took over the reins - he developed new marketing and trading strategies. Despite the difficult economy at that time, his business knowledge allowed him to widen distribution and sales networks, so that Borgani instruments could be exported all over the world.

1985. Giuseppe's only son ORFEO, (4th generation) now leads the company. Thanks to Orfeo, Borgani may be considered the last "bulwark" of fine handicrafts in Italy. Orfeo has chosen to reorganise the company - focusing on professional saxophones. His new line aims at a high flexibility and adaptability while never losing sight of the old tradition.

The "Jubilee" series was created in 1997 - sonorous alloys formed from precious metals.

In 2008 the "135" Special Edition another new saxophone: silver neck and bell with 24K Pink Gold Body and silver keys.
